On the same square there is the Basilica of San Marco, dedicated to the patron saint of the town. It was built in the thirteenth century and has a marble facade full of mosaics and bas-reliefs. The Campanile di San Marco was built in the twelfth century.
The Ducal Palace, near the Basilica, was the ancient seat of the Doge and the judiciary, dates back the ninth century. Houses the Civic Museum and with its beautiful Gothic facade is considered a true architecture masterpiece with inlaid marbles and columns and the central decorated balcony.
