Charming Hotels, Agritourism and B&B in "Capo d'Orlando"

Capo d’Orlando is a village in Messina district in Sicilia. This ancient village that was mainly based on fishing, today has developed a great touristic offer.

The name was probably given by Orlando who stopped here during his travel for the Crusade to the Holy Land, but the origin of the settlement is a lot more ancient.

Capo d’Orlando is rich in historical sites, such as the Terme di Bagnoli, discovered in the 80s near the village. They date back to the third century A.D. and are divided into three environments built with ingenious methods to obtain three different temperature stages. On the floor you can see the beautiful stone and marble mosaics.

One of the most beautiful buildings is the Castle Bastione or Trappeto Tower, it probably dates back to the fourteenth century, because it was built on a part of already existing buildings. It was built to defend the land and crops from attacks by pirates, it became a private residence in 800 and now the bastion still dominates the surrounding plains and the coast.

In more recent times, in Capo d’Orlando, were built palaces and prestigious villas, such as Villa Piccolo built in the twentieth century, residence of the Piccolo family and now a museum. Piccolo family acquired and realized objects, photographs and paintings of great importance, which we can see today between the rooms of the villa, including a rich library with old books and precious copies of the greatest works of world literature of the ‘900.
