Domus Socolatae is a historic villa, a charming historic residence B&B, located in an old Art Nouveau building in the very heart of Follonica, in the Tuscan Maremma, a stone’s throw from the sea. It is the perfect place for a dream vacation by the sea, a romantic getaway, moments of relaxation and lovely walks, immersed in beauty, art and nature, to taste the delicious food and wine of Maremma. Follonica is the prefect place at any time of the year to discover the coast and the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, villages, museums and archaeological sites, natural parks, theme and art, a combination of culture, history and landscapes. On request we can organize boat trips with skipper and excursions on foot, bicycle and horseback. Domus Socolatae is located in the central square of Follonica, in Tuscany, and is surrounded by century-old trees, near the Chiesa della Ghisa and the Palace of Grand Duke Leopold II of Lorraine, author in the nineteenth century of the massive undertaking of land reclamation and transformation of the city into one of the most modern and functional poles of iron and steel industry of the time, based on the traditional use of iron and in particular of cast iron, typical of the city since the time of the Etruscans, founder of the Factory City – known today as the former Ilva Area – for processing the minerals of the island of Elba. Thanks to a painstaking restoration, carried out by combining modern and functional materials with original elements, the structure preserves the typical floors of the area; the furniture, both indoor and outdoor, reflects its fascinating history. The double rooms and one single room – Superior, Deluxe -, the Romantic Suite, the Prestige room and the attic Confort Loft, all different, feature period furnishings combined with designer pieces, natural fabrics for beds and armchairs and carefully chosen fine linens. Some rooms are equipped with shower with steam baths and chromotherapy, others with bathtubs, one with airpool hydro massage with chromotherapy.

During your stay, Rita and Massimiliano will be happy to recommend many types of massages and holistic therapies, including chocolate ones, to restore maximum serenity and relaxation to body and mind. Exquisite breakfasts are served in your room or outside in the lovely garden, a true haven of peace in every season. Massimiliano prepares a different menu every day with variations on request, based on local products, fresh and genuine, homemade cakes, jams and bread.
