Al Battistero d’Oro

Strada Sant' Anna 22, (PR) - Rooms: 3 / Opening dates: closed in August from € 110 - to € 130

Al Battistero d’Oro is in the heart of the historic and artistic centre of Parma, in the Emilia-Romagna region.  It owes its name to one of the most important medieval buildings in Europe, the Baptistery, which stands in the delightful Cathedral Square, only a stone’s throw away from the Royal Theatre.  Parma may not be vast but there is a sumptuousness to it; indeed it has the air of a little capital city, and is famous for the many artists who were born or worked here, such as the painters Correggio and Parmigianino, composer Verdi and conductor Toscanini.  It has been called the “City of Music”; then, just at the end of 2015, it was the first city in Italy to be appointed as a UNESCO “Creative City of Gastronomy”, in acknowledgment of the quality of its food, typical of the best tradition of Emilia Romagna.

Al Battistero d’Oro is an exclusive B&B, created from an 18th century palace, a jewel of a building with a wonderful location in the heart of Parma; access to the house is gained through an internal court, a feature common to many edifices of this period.  The owner welcomes her guests to her beautiful home, which retains the discreet atmosphere of the handsome houses of the old bourgeois families of Parma.  A stay at Al Battistero d’Oro will offer a unique chance to discover the city and get to know the way of life of its people, not least thanks to the invaluable advice of its proprietor. The house is furnished with antiques that have been in the family for generations: paintings in elaborate frames, mirrors and period furniture perfectly complement each other, creating a refined space, elegant yet warm and friendly.

At the Battistero d’Oro you can choose between three double rooms, each one with private and dressing bathroom, the Duchess, the Reina and the Marquise room. A large living room is available for guests, where they will find various lovely reading and conversation corners.
In the morning breakfast is served in an adjoining room. The three rooms are furnished with antiques and have wood beams on the ceiling and cotto tiles on the floor; a kettle and a selection of herbal teas are provided, while Wi-Fi is available in all areas
