Tenuta Monacelli is only 3 km away from the crystal blue sea of Salento and 13 km from Lecce, the capital of Baroque in Apulia; it also lies very close to the defence towers on the Salentine coast.  Nature lovers will be keen to follow the trails in the nearby Rauccio Regional Park to discover the various animals and plants that inhabit the area, and explore the stand of ancient holm oaks, the numerous marshes and the basin of the river Idume, one of the main water courses of the Salento peninsula.

Tenuta Monacelli includes two farmhouses that have been masterly restored; they are set deep in amongst more than 50,000 secular olive trees whose fruits are picked and employed in the production of extra virgin olive oil.  These activities belong to an ancient tradition typical of Apulia, as witnessed by the old olive press in an underground room that has now been converted into a picturesque restaurant.  The estate extends over 320 hectares incorporating also woods of oaks and holm oaks, cultivations of beneficial herbs and plants, a kitchen garden, and a number of paths winding through a stunning 50 km of land to explore on foot, by bike or on horseback; a large infinity pool is bordered by lawn and lies nestled in the olive grove.  The “Rifugio del Re Restaurant” serves dishes of the culinary tradition of Apulia and of the Salento area in particular, prepared with the products of the farm and other local produce; guests will be able to enjoy their delicious meals sitting indoors, or admiring their surroundings from the terrace or lunching among the olive trees.  Breakfast on the other hand is served in a room with terrace.  There is an internal courtyard for a quiet drink and a good book, and also a bar, a gym and a massage salon for the use of the guests.

Tenuta Monacelli has 24 rooms, located in the two farmhouses.  Guests can choose between standard and superior rooms – some of the latter are endowed with a mezzanine level or with terrace – and there are also suites available.  They are spacious and furnished with wood furniture and wrought iron bedsteads, have exposed stone walls; they enjoy plenty of light and look out over the courtyard or the beautiful garden.
