Le Suite di Giulietta owes its name to the privileged position it enjoys, opposite Juliet’s balcony. It is in fact situated in the pedestrian area of Verona’s historic centre, only 500 m away from the Arena and a mere 20-minute walk from Porta Nuova Central Station. This is the setting of Romeo and Juliet’s story, with Juliet’s tomb in San Francesco Cloister and the windows of Romeo’s house next to the Arche. A short walk will lead to the bustling Piazza delle Erbe with its historic market, and the austere and imposing Castelvecchio; and these are only a handful of the city’s many attractions.
It is not an everyday occurrence that one can “live history”, but from the windows of Le Suite di Giulietta it is possible to admire, at all times, the balcony of the most famous lovers and raise one’s eyes to encompass the height of the medieval Lamberti Tower, 84 meter tall and rising over the roofs of “Veronetta”, the site of the first human settlement of Verona. Le Suite di Giulietta itself is housed within a historic 15th-century palace that the proprietors, with the help of professional experts, have carefully restored to preserve its past. Sustainable architecture and advanced technologies have been employed to make the building energetically effective, and guarantee that heating, ventilation and lighting are environmentally friendly.
The architects have created five suites, all floored with wood boards and provided with chromotherapy lighting in the bathrooms, but each one individually designed and decorated. Every space has in fact its distinct style: unique pieces of furniture, appositely designed, and photographs on the walls decorate one suite, while another displays pictures of contemporary local artists, and the loft room has a spacious living area. The rooms are perfectly sound proof, and have flat screen LED TVs, optical fibre illumination, and free Wi-Fi.
