La Cabana is located amid the splendidly beautiful Cinque Terre, or Five Lands, on the coast of Liguria, less than a kilometre away from Monterosso al Mare, one of the ancient fishing villages that give name to the area.  Praised by innumerable poets, this landscape formed by nature and man is quite unique, with terraces cut in the rock and lined with vines; they are traversed by picturesque paths, known locally as carruggi, that reach down to the sea and connect the five villages.  In recognition of its scenic and cultural value, UNESCO has designated the Cinque Terre National Park, which includes the sea off the coast, a World Heritage Site. La Cabana provides a free shuttle bus service into the old town of Monterosso al Mare to ensure that guests can reach it with ease and admire its many attractions, including the medieval church of St John the Baptist and its façade made up of alternating horizontal lines of black and white stone. Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, the other four villages that constitute Cinque Terre, are also within easy reach, only about 50 km away.

La Cabana is an old farmhouse surrounded by the green of a garden, enclosed by dry stone walls, and beyond that olive groves, vineyards and pine trees.  Set high above the coast of Cinque Terre, it is blessed with sweeping sea views: sitting comfortably on the large terrace or relaxing on the veranda, La Cabana’s guests never cease to wonder at the spectacle of the sun setting over the promontory of Punta Mesco.  In the warm seasons the veranda becomes the backdrop to the superb breakfast buffet that is laid out every morning; in autumn and winter the guests enjoy the same magnificent panorama of the sea through the large windows of the breakfast room.

The guestrooms at La Cabana are spacious and light, and incredibly quiet; they enjoy views of the sea or of the countryside, and those located on the ground floor have direct access to the garden.  The owners have recently redecorated the rooms using natural materials, antique furniture, precious curtains and beautifully crafted objects: the effect is one of comfortable elegance.
