Villa Fanny is a lovely charming B&B located in Trieste, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. It is an excellent place from which to discover this beautiful city and its surroundings with its rich historical, cultural and architectural heritage. Trieste is an elegant and diverse city that is well worth getting to know. First of all, the squares – such as the beautiful Piazza dell’Unità overlooking the sea – and the famous historical cafes, once frequented by literary figures of the caliber of Italo Svevo, Umberto Saba, James Joyce, where conferences and presentations are still held and it is easy to meet contemporary authors. Main port of the Austrian Empire, Trieste is the first port of call in the Mediterranean for coffee. A trivia: the name given to the many preparations based on this product does not correspond to those in the rest of Italy, cappuccino here is served in a small cup and is called “capo”, it is often served in glass. You can explore the Cittavecchia, a characteristic area in the city center on the slope of San Giusto hill from which you will admire characteristic views. At the top stands the Duomo, the result of the union of two pre-existing churches, which dominates the city with the Castle next to it. The city also boasts vestiges of Roman times. On the seafront of Barcola, you cannot miss Castello di Miramare, built in white Istrian stone, with its enormous park that slopes down towards the bay of Grignano, a WWF marine reserve. Immediately outside Trieste you will discover Muggia, with its Venetian past and its narrow streets and the lion on the facade of the Town Hall. Leaving the city and driving along the famous coastal road, one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in Italy, you will reach the suggestive castle of Duino, perched on the cliffs and still inhabited by its owners, and the extraordinary Rilke promenade which enjoys a breathtaking view of the sea. Every year, in October, Trieste hosts the famous Barcolana, the largest regatta in the world.

Located in a late 19th century building a short walk from the historic center and the seafront of Trieste, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Villa Fanny is a refined B&B managed with passion by Chiara and Marco, the owners. You can choose between various options, ideal for couples, all different and equipped with modern comforts, each with an external but exclusive bathroom: the Suite Fanny, a large and bright double room painted in blue with a sitting area and a beautiful piano; Gilda, a charming double room, with gray-blue tones; Marina, where white and blue of the sea predominate, with two single beds, a comfortable walk-in closet and a sitting area.

At B&B Villa Fanny every morning the owners offer a rich breakfast, sweet and savory, in a beautiful room that overlooks the green. You can enjoy traditional Central European or international cakes, donuts, pies, yogurt and homemade jams, fresh fruit, coffee, cappuccino, tea and infusions, scrambled eggs, cakes, meats and cheeses. Gluten-free, egg-free and milk-free products are available. The owners will be happy to recommend cultural and gastronomic itineraries, visits to farms, restaurants where you can taste traditional Trieste dishes, from refined addresses in the city to the typical taverns of the Karst area chiaate osmize, where you can taste cold cuts, cheeses and wines produced on the farm.
