Borgo di Quarazzana lies eight kilometers from Fivizzano, offering breathtaking views of the Apuan Alps, encased among the chestnut and beech woods of Lunigiana, Tuscany – an ancient land where you can find statue menhir, stone idols dating back two thousand years B.C. The area, along the Via Francigena, is dotted with castles, perched medieval villages, and Romanesque parish churches. Fivizzano was called by Carducci “a pearl hidden among the mountains” and preserves a fountain that was built by Cosimo III de’ Medici in 1700. Lerici and the beautiful Cinque Terre are about an hour away. Lucca and Pisa are just a short drive away. In winter, the Cerreto Ski lifts can be accessed in about forty minutes.

Borgo di Quarazzana is the outcome of the restoration of an old stone farmhouse built in the 16th century in Fivizzano, Lunigiana, Tuscany, where time appears to have stood still. The original structure has been perfectly preserved and is perfect for hosting families and groups on an exclusive basis, fully immersed in nature and experiencing an unforgettable experience. These features, along with the pure air, genuine food and the owners’ care, have an extraordinary effect on guests’ minds and bodies. Formerly a meeting place for artists and writers, who came from all over the world in search of a creative experience in a simple, rustic and evocative setting and perhaps find inspiration in a bohemian atmosphere, nowadays the hamlet offers an unforgettable setting for you to leave behind your everyday stresses and reconnect with the surrounding nature. Organic products, both from the property’s own farm and those selected from the area, are served at the table at the farmyard restaurant.

Borgo di Quarazzana features 7 rooms all having private entrances and bathrooms. The rooms’ wall colors have preserved the hues of the old plasterwork, and original materials such as “pietra serena” have been brought back to the surface. The facility provides a kitchen, piano room, yoga room, living room and two lounges, one for breakfasts, the other for dinners, which as the season permits can be enjoyed in the courtyard under the stars. Guests can relax in the spacious garden or by the pool with a view. Pets are welcome. The farmhouse, rented only on an exclusive basis throughout the year for groups, families or seminars, can accommodate up to 17 people: you can either choose to make the hamlet private or enjoy the services offered by the owners – breakfast with jams, cakes, homemade yogurt and fresh fruit, preparation of lunch and dinner with seasonal and organic products. You can also participate in cooking classes, visit wineries, farms and craft stores to discover the excellence of this region. Although the property is rented only on an exclusive basis throughout the year, in July and August it is also possible to rent individual rooms.
