Il Poggianino

Reopening 2021
Via Collina 1519, , Rooms: 3 / Opening dates: March - December from € 80 - to € 110

Il Poggianino is situated amidst lush vegetation on the outskirts of a little town, Poggio Torriana, with splendid views.  It sits at 155 m above sea level and is surrounded by many picturesque locations: the delightful towns of Santarcangelo di Romagna and Verucchio, the birthplace of the Malatesta family, are only a few minutes away, whereas in half an hour one can reach the rock of San Leo, the Republic of San Marino and Rimini, renowned anywhere for its beaches and nightclubs and blessed with a beautiful city centre, surrounded by historic buildings dating back to Roman times, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance epoch.

Il Poggianino is a two-storey 19th-century country house, a fine rural building with a traditional sloping tile roof in the style typical of the area.  It is located within a large estate that comprises the Poggiano Palace, from where its name derives.  The Palace dates back to the 14th century and belonged to the powerful Malatesta family that ruled Rimini between the 13th and the 16th centuries; for those with a love of history, a visit – which can be booked – is unmissable. Also standing in the grounds of the estate is the ancient Malatesta hunting residence, full of character and charm, which has been transformed into a unique venue for weddings and other events. Il Poggianino looks out over the Valmarecchia Valley, and in the distance the sea is visible.  A stay here is an opportunity to experience the Romagna countryside, to rest, relax and walk, exploring its paths and enjoying its perfumes and the traditional dishes of the region.

The communal areas at Il Poggianino are comfortable and warm.  They have exposed stone walls and are decorated and furnished with simple elegance in the traditional local country style. Guests can choose between three spacious suites measuring from 41 to 60 square meters, each one quite different from the others but all equally charming and conveniently provided with Wi-Fi.  They are truly welcoming and delightful: situated on the ground and first floors, with pastel plastered walls alternating with exposed stone, wrought iron and blonde wood beds – one of which is a beautiful four-poster bed.
