Il Maestro is a splendid B&B in the heart of Verona; the original house dates from the 19th century and is perfectly situated, just 2 km away from the city centre. Verona’s architectural treasures led it to be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its attractions are innumerable. Notable landmarks include Juliet’s House, the romantic destination of lovers from all over the world who cannot resist posing on the famous balcony; the Roman Amphitheatre known as the Arena, internationally renowned for its concerts and opera performances which never fails to attract lovers of history and art; the Arche Scaligere, funerary monuments celebrating the Della Scala family, who ruled Verona between the 13th and the 14th century and made it flourish. Piazza dei Signori, the square where everyone meets, is ringed by many elegant palaces, such as the medieval Palazzo del Governo topped with beautiful traditional battlements, and the stunning Loggia del Consiglio. The sights of interest in Verona are truly countless, but the owners of Il Maestro are always happy to advise and assist their guests with bookings of events and also with transport; in fact a free shuttle service from and to the city centre, the airport and the railway station is available on request.
B&B Il Maestro has a welcoming sophisticated interior and combines the charm of an old residence with modern amenities. The rhythms of bygone times have been preserved, and cooking and other daily activities are lovingly and carefully performed. Just as the old inhabitants of the house used to sit down to tea and cake, so today’s guests are invited to sample homemade desserts and enjoy the little pleasures in life, like a walk in the lovely garden or a delicious plentiful breakfast. In the morning savoury and sweet dishes are served in the dining area on the first floor, which is adjacent to the sparkling, functional kitchen; the whole space is warm and comfortable, furnished with solid wood furniture and with exposed beams on the ceiling.
B&B Il Maestro comprises three suites with evocative names: Lillà, Arcano and Novecento. Of these, Novecento is the largest room, with a double bed and a pull-out sofa that can sleep two, and the most incredible view over Verona. Decorated with restored antiques and lovely objects mostly contemporary with the house, the rooms are full of character with wrought iron beds, mezzanine areas, floorboards, romantic bed linen and paintings on the wall. They are also complete with all modern comforts, like TV and Wi-Fi connection, independent heating and air conditioning, as well as well-equipped en suite bathrooms with shower.
