Villa Nuti is in a spectacular complex of buildings, Coldimolino. Situated 500 m above sea level, it enjoys a superb position overlooking the verdant valleys of Umbria that stretch as far as the eye can see. This is the land of St Francis and it is no surprise that it possesses a very special atmosphere. Places connected to the Saint’s life are within easy reach, such as Gubbio, a perfect little town that clings to the side of a mountain and is only 7 km away, Perugia and Assisi, which are about an hour from Villa Nuti. Between the towns there are many unwinding trails that can be explored on foot, on horseback or bike, to discover the surrounding countryside.
Villa Nuti is named after the aristocratic family that had it built as a country retreat in the early 18th century. It faces onto a delightful small square, graced by a well in the centre and by a little church dedicated to St Michael Archangel which was erected in 1754; still consecrated, it can be used for intimate ceremonies. Villa Nuti is a three-storey stone building which forms part of a larger residential complex that is divided into apartments. Set deep in an extensive park, it has been restored in the traditional country style with exposed beams, while the décor is simple and minimalistic; its wide windows look out over some magnificent views, including sights of Gubbio. Guests can unwind in the relaxation room, dine in the restaurant situated on the premises, take a dip in the large outdoor pool or take advantage of the tennis courts located at the end of a path that zigzags throughout the park, although many will step on to it for the sheer pleasure of walking in such a beautiful setting. For advice on what to see and do in the area, or on traditional occurrences of Umbria, Villa Nuti’s owner is always at hand.
There are nine rooms at Villa Nuti, of different type but all simply and elegantly furnished with modern pieces, and equipped with Wi-Fi.
