Relais del Maro is situated in the heart of Borgomaro, a little town in the Impero Valley, in the shelter of the Maritime Alps. This is the hinterland of the Liguria region, and Borgomaro is within easy reach of the vivacious Riviera: the fashionable beaches of the Ligurian Sea are approximately 20 minutes away by car, while Alassio and Sanremo can be reached in a hour, and Nizza in 90 minutes.
Relais del Maro is an eco-sustainable hotel which opened its doors in 2012 and is run according to innovative principles, in the respect and protection of the environment. Its peculiarity consists in being an “albergo diffuso”, a hotel that comprises three old buildings, all masterly restored and close to one another. The “Casa Madre”, or “Main House”, used to be the village’s butcher’s shop, while the “Casa del Borgo” rises in the village centre and the “Casa del Fienile” was the site of rope making from hemp in the 16th century. The guests are accommodated in houses and rooms that are distributed within a radius of around 120 metres from the heart of the establishment; reception, common spaces and breakfast room are in fact located in the Casa Madre. Besides, its garden, terrace and swimming pool with hydro massage are the pride and joy of this jewel of a house, which enjoys a quiet location in the village centre. At the Relais del Maro in Borgomaro guests will relish the fresh air, the lush green lawn and the fragrance of the aromatic herbs, which are the perfect ingredient for a relaxing holiday that offers plenty of opportunities for excursions and visits in the vicinities. The proprietors are always more than happy to provide directions and advice.
Whether it is a standard room or a suite, all the Relais del Maro’s rooms are designed down to the finest of details: these are elegant, spacious and comfortable spaces, furnished in country-chic style. Guests will sample local organic delicacies, both sweet and savoury, from the breakfast buffet; there is an ample choice of food on offer: Ligurian cheeses, pastries, organic preserves and a lot more. In the afternoon they are invited to sit down to tea and cakes, made daily on the premises.
