Canonica di Corteranzo

Canonica di Corteranzo is located in Piedmont, within the district of Alessandria. It is  about five minutes by car from Murisengo, the town renowned for its yearly national truffle fair. Also, it is 40 minutes away from the interesting main town of Monferrato, Casale, while it is about an hour from Turin, the Piedmont county seat.

Canonica di Corteranzo benefits of a magical atmosphere, surrounded by hills, small woods, and vineyards of Valerrina, in the Monferrato area. This Relais has been obtained from a noble hunting lodge coming from the end of the Eighteen Century. It was restored and built up, without losing the charm of its past times. The result is an elegant and rural country estate. Its furniture is a wise combination of ancient style and country details, which match well with the serenity of its hilly surroundings. Canonica di Corteranzo owes its name to the fact that once  a parish priest had lived there, and many remember him wandering underneath the porch, reflecting, holding his breviary; inside the building  there are still the marquetries of the old sacristy closet  or the handrails made of aged iron.

In 2003, the Rectory became property of the Calvo family, which has been carrying on – for five generations – the best wine-making tradition of the Monferrato area  in the Isabella Property.

From the terrace of the swimming pool it is possible to enjoy an incredible sight over the surrounding countryside. This environment, immersed in nature, allows visitors to take horse-riding hikes, mountain bike excursions, or play different sports, such as trekking, kayaking or game fishing.

The ten rooms available at the Canonica di Corteranzo are provided with all the comforts, including cotto tile floorings and ceilings with wooden beams, and each one of them offers a beautiful sight over the hills or over the garden.

The breakfast, composed of homemade products, is served in the relaxing atmosphere of the hall, which offers a stunning sight as well. The elegant restaurant offers a great choice of specialties from   Piedmontese cookery tradition. A peculiarity of this business is that they produce and sell their own wine, they offer wine-tasting and the sampling of local products. The Rebirth Area, a recently opened spa, completes the picture of the relaxing location of Murisengo.
