Relais Castrum Boccea is in Lazio, north-east of Rome, just off the Ring Road.  The “Eternal City” can also be reached by underground and the nearest station is a 15-minute drive from Relais Castrum Boccea. Whereas a bit further from Rome, but still within a 30-minute radius, are other popular attractions: the Regional Natural Park of the Bracciano and Martignano Lakes, and the delightful towns of Ceri and Cerveteri, the latter famous for its magnificent Etruscan necropolis.

Relais Castrum Boccea is made up of a cluster of ancient buildings, dating back to the Middle Ages, which have been transformed into a “widespread hotel”, or “albergo diffuso”.  Located in the so-called “Fundus Bucciea”, it dominates the Arrone river valley and its situation, in the heart of the countryside, makes one forget that Rome city centre is only 20 km away.  A fortified tower, a remainder of the Boccea Castle, and fascinating tufa caves and galleries have been maintained and restructured and are in use: a cellar, for example, has been created in one of the caves and stores excellent wines, and in a corner an original nook has been set up just for two, for a quiet romantic dinner.  The reception is situated in one of the stone buildings, where guests are welcomed and invited to rest in a comfortable sitting room. Other low buildings, accommodating the guest rooms, stand close and in harmony with one another, and there is also a restaurant, with barrelled vaults and exposed stone, which is open for breakfast in the mornings, and later for lunch and dinner.  This is an experience not to be missed as the chef, inspired by the local culinary tradition, mixes it with his Neapolitan flavours and creates delectable dishes.  Events of any kind can be organised outdoors, in the large garden that extends over several levels, or indoors, in the ancient halls of the Relais, in the tufa galleries and also in the glass room that offers panoramic views of the valley and the gardens, while the attentive staff preside over every function and take great care of their guests.

Relais Castrum Boccea offers various types of accommodation.  There are twenty-nine rooms, some of them provided with a sitting area, but all very spacious so that guests will feel they are occupying a cottage with two or three rooms. They have classic furniture and are variously decorated with exposed stone and beams, wood boards or cotto tiles on the floor, and possess a warm atmosphere.
